Teams of students compete against each
other in this whole-class game. The class was divided into 4 teams. Teams were
asked to choose a colour: Yellow Team, Blue Team, etc.
Each team was given a crayon to match
its colour. Students cut apart the number cards on the activity sheet. Ms
Sabeena called out a division problem from Activity Sheet C (e.g., "60
divided by 6"). Students on all teams had to solve the problem and team members
with the numbers 1 and 0 rush to the front of the room to display the answer,
10. The first team to accomplish this task could colour one of the states on
the United States map. At the end of the playing time, teams counted up the
number of states they had coloured. The winning team was the team that had
conquered (coloured) the most sections on the map.
