The
importance of artistic and creative development is something that can be
encouraged at a young age. 3rd
Graders had a grand BOOK LAUNCH on Friday, 2nd November. These books
were written by the students themselves as a summative ending to their unit of
inquiry under the Transdisciplinary Theme ‘How we express ourselves’. The day
started with a session by a renowned children’s author, Ms Sonali Pota wherein
she interacted with them and narrated a story written by her under the genre of
mythology. Students were bubbling with energy and their enthusiasm knew no
bounds. The official Book Release was done by the School director, Dr Naidu.
Students loved to talk about books! What a lovely way
to support and encourage kids' love for reading by giving them an opportunity
to connect, on a personal level, with the books they wrote and then share their
ideas, thoughts, and opinions with family members, friends, and teachers.
What
confidence they exhibited during the whole process. Opportunity was given to
them where the children’s creative juices were allowed to run wild and
unhindered, which helped them develop and strengthen their written and verbal
skills.
We
have many budding writers and poets in the making!! We should nurture and
foster creativity in children as creative writing and being imaginative as it
plays an important role in one’s ability to communicate.
