Students had to write a proverb and then replace some of the
words with pictures that mean the same thing. They then shared it with the
class and the others had to guess the right word and the meaning of the
proverb. The exercise worked well for children who relate better to pictures
than to the words.
Don't bite the hand that feeds you.
The grass is always greener on the other side of the hill.
You can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs
Birds of a feather flock together
A merry heart makes a ling life
Old is gold
Action speaks louder than words
Don't put all your eggs in one basket
A poor workman blames his tools
A bird in hand is worth two in a bush
A picture is worth thousand words
The pen is mightier than the sword
Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder
A penny saved is a penny earned
Still water runs deep
Two heads are better than one
