Students made their own time capsule which
they will bury in their family backyard or will use their relatives or friends
and then decide on a time period after which they would come back and dig it
out to refresh their memories.
The objective was to assess their understanding on how certain artefacts would reveal a person’s
identity by speaking about their life-style and personal likings. To make it exciting and realistic, we planned to give them a time
frame in which their friends can return to the designated areas, and dig up the
capsules.
Students very enthusiastically decided on what items and/or artifacts they would like to put
in their time capsules that represent who they are and what they do, so that in
a later time this will remind them of what their lives were like. They were able to give reasons why they have chosen particular items to place in their
capsules.
