DIAMOND RANKING

To assess the understanding of the third line of inquiry- ‘Important inventions in my life’ under the TD Theme- How the world works, students were given a task of rating the inventions. Through Diamond Ranking, students had to rate the most important inventions in their life in the shape of a diamond starting from the most important to the least important.

DIVIDE AND CONQUER

Teams of students compete against each other in this whole-class game. The class was divided into 4 teams. Teams were asked to choose a colour: Yellow Team, Blue Team, etc.
Each team was given a crayon to match its colour. Students cut apart the number cards on the activity sheet. Ms Sabeena called out a division problem from Activity Sheet C (e.g., "60 divided by 6"). Students on all teams had to solve the problem and team members with the numbers 1 and 0 rush to the front of the room to display the answer, 10. The first team to accomplish this task could colour one of the states on the United States map. At the end of the playing time, teams counted up the number of states they had coloured. The winning team was the team that had conquered (coloured) the most sections on the map.
Kids had a blast!!!

VOCABULARY ANCHORS

Vocabulary Anchors (especially good for verbal/linguistic, visual/spatial, and logical learning) is a graphic strategy that helps students make connections between concepts that are new to them and concepts they already know. Students were given a drawing of a boat at rest in calm water and we talked about how a boat can drift away if it doesn’t have an anchor. Then, I explained how we come to understand something new by “anchoring” it to something we already know. Creating these anchors allowed students to share their experiences as they build schemas of new words.
It really came out well.

CELEBRATION TIME

My children always amaze me to the core. It was my anniversary today and as a surprise all of them made a huge scroll giving in their warm wishes and love.
Ms Vandana had brought in a surprise cake which I cut with my group and shared it with my kiddies. On top of it all of them gave me chocolates, candies, chips, choco pies and many more as my anniversary gift. Whatever kids got for their bus snack was given to me as a gift!!!!
I had loads of it to take back home.
I was completely touched!!! Shared all of it with my husband.....he was also very surprised by the kind gesture of the kids!!
Thank you Ms Vandana and all my 3rd Graders , you really made my day a memorable one!!! many moments to cherish.
LOVE YOU ALL

PLAY IS LEARNING- STELLAR MUSEUM

This wass not a museum in the traditional sense; it’s more of an activity centre with an emphasis on learning while playing.
The area is split into eight galleries—Theatre, Invent It, Build It, Discover It, Live It, Create It, Splash It and Explore It. All the exhibits are hands-on and children can see for themselves, and understand, simple concepts such as gravity, aerodynamics and magnetism through games.

The Invent It gallery had an interesting Air Wall where children could see how scarves and paper cups behave when a gust of wind blows in a confined space.

The Build It gallery—gave children a chance to use their hands to build objects with pieces of cardboard, giant, foam-enclosed blocks, and small blocks too. The area had five different activity zones, including a Formula 1 (F1) pit stop where children could put tyres, nuts and bolts on the skeleton model of an F1 car.

The Live It zone had a market area, a make-believe cafe, even a doctor’s clinic. The drum, which mimics the heartbeat, was likely to be huge hit, like the X-ray table, where children can see X-rays of various bones in the body and even work on a jigsaw of the human skeleton

The Create It zone had a glass wall with paint brushes where children could paint to their heart’s content.

Another area which was a hit was the Splash It zone. It has a big water table where children could learn about dams and how the energy from water could be used to work turbines.
Most areas had low-lying sinks with soap dispensers, so children could wash up after the activities. Smocks, hard hats and goggles were available too, and all the exhibits have small information boards, in addition to around many gallery supervisors who could help a child understand the exhibits.

There were many small zones all around the centre, such as a Tube Chime Organ with jars, plates, pans, pots and drumsticks, to enable children to explore the musical sounds made by different elements; and a fascinating Pin Frame where children could sculpt their own designs by pressing into the wall with their hands.

It was so good that none of them wanted to come back…..

CROSS COUNTRY RUN

Cross country running , a sport in which individuals run a race on open-air courses over natural terrain.
Aravali is a runner's paradise. It has more trees, more greenery compared to any other city. It also has clear blue skies, little pollution, a climate much milder than that experienced by Americans or Europeans, and all the splendour of the seasons. It is thus a very exciting time to be a runner in Pathways, Aravali - in track and field, in road running, in fun running and in cross country. Taking part in it is a great way of sharing in this excitement. Students’ enthusiasm to be part of the run was worth admiring. Each one was determined to finish the race.

On top of it , out of the first 6 winners, 5 were from my grade in the girls category and in the boys category out of 6 , two were from my class!!
Today I feel like being on top of the world.  My children have really made me proud J
Calls for a party ….hhhhmmmmm

And YES!!!!! ....we did have a party the next day with chocolates.....YUMMMYYYYY
